August Heat

Why is it that when I finally get used to the mild summer we were having that it suddenly gets to be 100 degrees? I spent all of today going from place to place in a non-air conditioned pick up filled with yard debris, and by 3:00 I was more tired then I have been all summer. If I had gotten any money for my troubles it wouldn't have been a problem, but alas, I'm just a pack mule. My dad got the paycheck for the whole ordeal, but really all he did was give me the damn directions and go out to lunch with my grandmother. Never again. Though, realistically, it will probably happen again very soon. Hopefully not with this type of weather though. I'm all for hot hot heat, but only when I'm by a river with a bunch of friends.
It seems like all I've been doing since school let out is work. Un-paid work, at that. I'm going to get a job soon, a real one that has to pay me! But I have to wait until September when seasonal workers all quit and job openings actually exist. Which really sucks, since September is when I go back to school too. My junior year is starting next month, which means that I'll have school for six hours and then work on top of that. How does all of that just crush you that fast? It seems like I went from a kid who spent most of the time reading or jogging to un-fun sweaty work and essays in no time at all, without any transitions.
